Walking with Horses
part of the Connecting with Horses series
Come and spend some time companion-walking with the horses in the beautiful woods and lanes surrounding Lindley Wood Reservoir. Ideal for those of us who are sick of the speed and rush of life. Sometimes we are so busy training our horses we forget to just be.
Slow down and simply reconnect by walking out with our herd. This is a powerful connection exercise recommended by Carolyn Resnick, Klaus Hemplfing and Gawani Pony Boy. Perfect for restoring your sense of mindfulness whilst being with horses. Level of ability: All - ages and abilities! If you have never been around horses or are a little fearful, you will have clear instruction about how to keep yourself safe first so you can enjoy the experience. This will be taken at a speed you feel comfortable with. You can enjoy a one-to-one walk with an equine partner of choice. If you feel really confident around the horses, you can have a play with some groundwork through the woods. If you love the exuberance of watching horses run free, we can take the whole herd and have two horses enjoying their freedom! |
The experience first-hand:
“We came as a family (of 3) for a walk in the woods with Martha’s horses – and had a really interesting and fun time. As we took it in turns to lead each horse, we found that we had different responses and reactions to each horse; and each horse reacted differently with each of us so we were challenged gently to be adaptable. And each of us had a ‘favourite’, one with whom we felt most at ease.
My favourite moment was learning how to help Finbar overcome his hesitation to ford a stream. Ann’s favourite moment was walking with Cabalito, feeling okay to be and not have to do…and Simon said how lovely it was to be out in the company of happy animals.” Lavinia
